A Bench!

I wanted to share in DETAIL an awesome SW bench I made.

It's carved from Western Red Cedar

It's 70" long, 14" deep, and the ends are 25" tall

The bench itself (for you to actually sit on!) is 43"...

more than enough for two people to sit on!

I've been busy...

I've been quite busy building up stock here in our new home in AZ.

Whew.

Below is just a sampling of what I've done recently in the past few months.

Hopefully, soon we'll get more posted.

so some of these are now SOLD.

This is a 5.5ft saguaro cactus with a small owl.

Made from Western Red Cedar.

This is a bench with an owl on one side, and a coyote on the other.

It's  2ft tall, 5.5ft wide.

I've shown those before... Often I do them for address signs.

Below is a little turtle... it's actually the second one I've done..

measures about 3x6"...  $40 each

Here's a Snowy Owl carved for a local customer.

I did a on-site carving for a local customer of a long-hair maiden...

from that I came up with my version of a long-hair maiden,

and her pet bear.

Maiden is:  34" T, 10" D    $300

Bear is:  12"H, 17"L   $150

The long-hair maiden

I was commissioned to carve a ten foot pine tree stump for a local customer.

I built a scaffolding

and carved from the top down.

Here is the story.

Owners had the large tree taken down by a tree service.

They asked me to come on over and take a look.

First I carved a practice piece... 

a mere 15" long-hair maiden.

They were quite happy with this,

just wanted a couple of minor changes.

Next I built the scaffolding.

Finally it was time to start on the carving!

Started at the top... 

and worked my way down.

The owners wanted the bark left on for texture and effect.

After some thought and planning (by the owners and myself)

for a necklace,

I went back and finished it.

It has some stones collected by the owner and 

some Apache Tears that I had on hand.

And yes, it was done with a chainsaw.

This is an elegant piece of art 

and a very nice addition to their 

beautifully landscaped backyard.

This birdfeeder is a hollowed out Western Red Cedar log...

with a hand-cut cedar shake roof.

House is 8" diameter, 16" tall

The next is a unique birdfeeder!

The birds seem to love it!

Some stand on the edge to feed,

others stand right in the the middle!

Fun to watch.

The 'bowl' is carved from Western Red Cedar and measures 11"diameter, 6" high,

  with the 'bowl' just a few inches deep. It holds up to about 3 cups of seed.

The tripod stand is from Mesquite. The total height is 34" high. 

Very durable and unique.

Wow.

The birds really love this.

Fresh water... for drinking or bathing.

Sealed with Varathane to hold water.

Top is carved from Ash.

Legs are Mesquite.
